Ministry Team

Tim St Quintin - Rector

Tim, together with his wife Sarah, moved to Mudgee in April  2024 as he took on the role of Rector of the Parish of Cudgegong Valley. Tim also serves as the Archdeacon of the Eastern Parishes of the Bathurst Diocese. Tim served as an Army Officer prior to studying for ministry at Moore College in Sydney. Following ordination, he served in ministry roles in Willoughby and Cremorne in Sydney whilst continuing to serve as a Chaplain in the Army Reserve. Whilst Tim and Sarah miss their (just) adult children in Sydney, they have quickly embraced the country life and all that our region has to offer (including the lack of traffic lights). As Rector, Tim oversees all the ministries in the parish.

Josh Taylor - Assistant Rector

Josh moved from Sydney to Gulgong in January, 2025. He is married Jordon, and together they have 3 kids: Harvey, Riley, and Cameron. Josh served as a student minister at All Saints Anglican, North Epping from 2018-2019. In 2020, Josh started in a role at All Souls Anglican, Leichhardt. While there, he was ordained as deacon in April 2024, and priest in November 2024. Josh and Jordon both have a passion for seeing young people won for Christ.

Josh started as the Assistant Priest of the Cudgegong Valley in January 2025. He is based in Gulgong, but has responsibilities across the parish.

Josh, Jordon, and the kids are all loving their new home in Gulgong. They have been warmly welcomed by the congregation, and the town community. They are looking forward to seeing how God will be at work at St Luke's, and across the broader parish.

Levi Kowalczyk - Ministry Apprentice

Levi grew up in the twin towns community of Rylstone and Kandos and has been attending the churches of St James and St Laurence since December 2021. Working casually in construction and agriculture, Levi volunteered for youth ministry in his spare time shortly after joining the church. Eventually this grew into a part time position as youth minister in Rylstone/Kandos for a year and a half. During this period, Levi began discerning a potential future calling to ordained ministry in the Central West and so decided to undertake a ministry apprenticeship here in the Cudgegong Valley Parish, with a continued focus on ministry in his home congregation of Rylstone/Kandos. As of 2025, Levi has stepped back significantly from farm work to focus on a two year ministry apprenticeship and is involved in several different ministries. Fun facts: Levi was homeschooled and enjoys writing, cricket and outdoor adventuring with friends in his free time.

Jorie Ryan - Honorary Assistant Priest

Jorie is an honorary assistant priest in the Cudgegong Parish. The journey to this point has been one of searching, waiting and joyful acceptance.  She saw her teaching career as a vocation and taught in both country areas and Sydney. Then God tapped her on the shoulder. Jorie has a strong interest in literature and is a published poet. She loves living in the country with husband Chris, Pip an excitable Jack Russell, and the brown ladies who lay speckly eggs. Jorie believes that all of us are on the search for a relationship with a loving God through Christ (whether they know it or not).

Bruce Kurtz - Honorary Assistant Priest

Bruce is a fifth generation Mudgeeite who served the parish as a lay minister from 1986, a deacon in 2009, and as honorary assistant priest since 2012.  Bruce shared a 15 month locum awaiting the appointment of Tim St Quintin.

Bruce is married to Lyndel with four married daughters and 12 grandchildren.  He hopes to transition into retirement from mixed farming during 2025.

Garry Wagstaffe - Ministry Lead, Kandos & Rylstone

Garry and Carolyn moved to their daughter and son-in-law's property at Coxs Creek in October 2012 after both retired from work. Garry spent more than twenty years running Christian outreach programs to street kids; drop-in centres; training programs including Biblical Studies to equip Christians in sharing their faith with others - especially those marginalised and not usually contacted by the Church.  Eventually Garry moved on to work at TAFE where he was Planning Manager for Western Sydney.  He is now Church Warden and Ministry Lead at Rylstone/Kandos Churches, as well as Bible Study leader.

He and Carolyn love living in the Central West, and living on the same property as 7 of their 15 grandchildren.  They feel blessed and privileged to be able, in their senior years, to be still serving their saviour.
